Foodies flock to the ‘Golden Triangle’ between Brecon, Abergavenny and Hay-on-Wye, where an unprecedented number of outstanding restaurants have sprung up in the last 15 years. To keep the competition on its toes another has recently joined the club – Llanwenarth, a restaurant with rooms in the Usk Valley between Abergavenny and Crickhowell. Llanwenarth’s immediate success (it was buzzing with customers a few short weeks after opening) is down to a straightforward, unpretentious approach – good food, a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy it, and excellent value for money. Llanwenarth’s new owners, Richard Wallace and Jon West, are experienced, highly successful restaurateurs. They know what works. The look and layout of the spacious Riverside restaurant creates just the right ambience.
